Post Jam Update #1
Post-Jam Update: Polishing the Game
Hey there, fellow gamers and game dev enthusiasts! It's Rafa, and I'm excited to share the latest updates to our Ludum Dare fighting game project. We've been hard at work improving the game, taking your feedback into account, and adding some cool new features. Here's what we've been up to:
Air Attacks and Air Juggles
We've expanded the gameplay by introducing air attacks and air juggles. Now, characters can perform moves while airborne, leading to more dynamic and stylish combat sequences.
Time Stop Effect
One of the small improvements we've added is the slight time stop effect when attacks land. This adds an element of impact and drama to the battles. When you strike your opponent, time briefly slows down, emphasizing the intensity of each hit. It's subtle but makes all the difference.
Crumbling Platform Effect
We've also amped up the drama by adding a crumbling effect when the platforms disappear. As the battleground shrinks, the platforms disintegrate. Watch your step
Screen Shake Effects
We've added screen shake effects for even more immersion. You'll feel the impact of your attacks with every hit. The screen shakes when you land a powerful blow and when the platforms break apart. It's all about making the gameplay more visceral and exciting in small but meaningful ways.
Cleaner Warning Before Platforms Crumble
We improved the warning before the platforms crumble. It's now more intuitive and visually cleaner, giving you a better sense of when to make your move as the stage starts to shrink.
Enhanced Hit Sparks
Our hit sparks have received an upgrade, making the combat even more visually appealing. With each successful hit, you'll see vibrant and impactful sparks that add a touch of spectacle to the fights.
Sound Effects Galore
We've introduced various sound effects to enhance the auditory experience. From satisfying hit sounds to character-specific jumping noises, and even a more immersive versus screen sound. There is still much work to be done in terms of audio design but this is a good first step.
Bug Fixes and Small Changes
Of course, we've taken care of pesky bugs and made various small changes to improve overall gameplay and polish. Your feedback was invaluable in helping us address these issues, and we appreciate your support.
These updates mark a significant step forward for our Ludum Dare project. We're incredibly grateful for your feedback and support throughout this journey. Stay tuned for more exciting developments, and as always, keep the feedback coming. Our commitment to making this game the best it can be remains unwavering.
Thanks for being a part of this adventure, and we can't wait to see you in the next round of updates!
